BERLIN, GERMANY (BNO NEW) — Pop singer Justin Bieber's TV appearance on a German variety show was canceled on Saturday after another guest was critically injured during a stunt, People Magazine reported.

Samuel Koch, 23, attempted to jump over a moving car on the live German broadcast of Wetten, dass...? (Wanna bet?) while using spring-powered stilts, but he failed the stunt and critically injured his back and spine.

Initial reports say Koch has been facing "extremely critical injuries," but they are believed not to be life-threatening injuries. He was operated on Sunday and put on an artificial coma. After the accident, which was witnessed 8 million TV viewers, the rest of the show was canceled.

"...we all don't think it is right to continue. Please pray for Samuel Koch & his family as we wait and hope for his health and safety," Bieber said through his Twitter account.

"Germany I'm sorry we couldn't perform tonight but some things are more important than putting on a show. We will be back I promise. Thank u," the 16-year-old pop star later added.

The TV show, which was also programmed to have appearances by international star Robbie Williams and singer Phil Collins during the show, has been running in the country for 29 years, but this is its first serious accident.
