Voa Via Overland Entry

Recommended Posts

I'm planning to enter the Sadao border by car for 3 weeks next week. Is the VOA still only valid for 2 weeks, or has it changed recently? If still 2 weeks, would it be better to visit the local Thai embassy and get a tourist visa (still free, right?) that's valid for 30 days? Otherwise I guess I'll have to pay 1,000bt for a 7 day extension, yeah?

Cheers!

PS What's the overstay per day at the moment?

500 Baht per day

Yup, found that one out, hence my edit, thanks. Any idea about the main question?

Depending on nationality of course, "Visa Exempt" entries allow a stay of 15 days if entering by land, and 30 days if entering by air. A Tourist Visa would give a 60 day permission to stay, and that could be extended by another 30 days for 1900 Baht.

All extensions of stay are the same price. 1,900 baht. And a seven day is not a real extension of stay but only an under review period which may require proof of exit tickets (which you might not have if driving).

Tourist visa is still free.
