December 11, 201015 yr Hi Anyone have first hand knowledge wrt Thai people (aged 15) (from Ubon Ratchathani) who wishes to visit Laos crossing at Nong Khai. Is a passport required? Am i correct in believing that only Thai people who live in a province bordering Laos can cross at the border crossing in their province Thanks
December 11, 201015 yr You would probably get a better response in the visa-migration forum. I went with my wife to Laos it was no problem for her at all, don't remember whether she needed a passport.
December 11, 201015 yr All Thai from any province just need an ID card to go to Lao. With ID card they can only travel around Vientiane. ID card or passport they pay only 50 thb for border pass and don't need a visa.
December 11, 201015 yr Author frenchfarangjomtien -- thanks for the reply when did u last travel with ur Thai and which province is noted on her/his ID card
December 11, 201015 yr The Ladies make me go to Laos from Khon Kaen all the time. No Problem,If you forget your Passport there is a small fee for Thai nationals with an ID card,I don't know the particulars because I go to a different line for foreign nationals, but there is never a problem and the costs are small. Some times we don't cross all the way in to Laos, but stay at the Duty Free area between Laos and Thailand at the Friend ship bridge, where the Ladies do some shopping. good prices on shoes and handbags.Don't need to exchange Bahts for Kips, Bahts are excepted everywhere at the duty free zone, but if you do you will need a calculator, ( 1,000 kip = 3.75 bht). Good Luck
