Police Arrest American Man Openly Smoking Marijuana On Walking Street

In most of Canada these days, the cop would ask you to put it out, and wouldn't even take it away, fine or frisk you.

People insulting others who enjoy the occasional puff are just curmudgeons.

Hear Hear. Same in the UK.

Look at the joy :D

This is Thailand. If the guy has any money he is going to get fined and booted... I know of few people busted in more conservative CM and the court system basically just wanted money and sent them packing. I will not mention exact amounts because it's hearsay and I can't verify it but was not that onerous if the amounts were true.

If he doesn't have money then yeah he might get a Thai sentence.

Well done the Police and how brave they were going in without sealing off Walking Street or having a SWAT team on hand. This guy had a reefer!

Really, having looked at the guy again, and it was marujuana, may be the army should have been deployed after an initial air strike. A drone of course to spare life.

It could have all gone so badly wrong. I mean what if he'd started singing Joan Baez songs and some mumbo jumbo about giving peace a chance.

If they hadn't taken him out when they did he'd have been free to sit in shop door ways, mumbling incoherently about how he loves everyone and will never wear shoes again.

And when they did finally contain him, he still manages to send coded signals to other Rasta dope fiends. Those 'V' signs. Believe me - they mean something.

I'm just grateful that no one was killed.

:D nice one.

He is consistent isn't he. Yet to miss a chance to bash a Thai. I often wonder if some hooker took his wallet and the police couldn't get it back for him. That would justify bashing them when they do some thing rite and when they do some thing wrong.

At least he didn't go into a mponologue on what is wrong with Thailand. I think he mentioned on another thread he was leaving Thailand.

Personally I think if what was published was the whole story They were a little out of line with a arrest. I believe there is more to it. The picture makes him look like it is all one big joke. Like to see a picture of him in the cell 12 hours later.

you don't seem to get it - IT IS A BIG JOKE - to arrest somebody in Pattaya for smoking a joint - of all places on waking street - full with whore houses - and prostitution was still ILLEGAL in Thailand when I last checked - but this seems to somehow escape the BIB !!!

As long as laws in this country are selectively enforced and crimes overlooked because it's good for the wallet - law enforcement will always be nothing but a big joke here!

Dont forget it is legal to smoke Marijuana in the Kingdom (as long as your a Thai) !

He is clearly an idiot for smoking pot in a country where it's illegal.

Laws have nothing to do with morality, for example if you are stupid enough to be homosexual in Malaysia or Singapore you are a baffoon, idiot, stupid, som nam na to you and you deserve the whippings and jail time clearly.

No my friend. Buffoons (note spelling) are the ones who think it is OK to whip/jail homosexuals.

Well the law disagrees. Seems like most people put the law above any morals so let's not question the law.

The law is what people make it. They could just as easily make murder legal Then all you would have to do is get a gun and go out and start cleaning the gene pool up.

Any law that makes it legal to treat homosexuals by whipping and jailing them is made up of a bunch of uneducated buffoons (I spell checked it). And the ones who carry it out are not worth the air they breath. The law should be changed to make murder legal and then it would be easy to remove the scum from the gene pool.B)

Before you jump on me I will answer.

Yes. It would be nice to live in a world without Bigots. Stop and think about it every one equal judged only on there own actions. Unfortunately the only people who would carry it out are the ones it applies to. Ain't going to happen.

I only post this to emphasis how ignorant the law's that condemn people only because of there sexual orientation.

Besides there is always that elephant in the living room that every one denies. You all know what I mean over population.:(

Poor guy. Just a happy tourist who didn't comprehend the consequences of smoking a joint in most parts of Thailand today.

I have no idea of what the consequences of smoking a joint in Thailand are. What are they?

A few years....what? Possibly just a fine and deportation which he'll probably also enjoy by the looks of things.

Actually there's a good chance he'll do time (up to five years) being as high profile as it is.

The creampiethais guy was caught (in pattaya) with drugs, a gun, etc, etc, and, he is a producer of pornography here in the Kingdom.

He did no jail time and is still here making movies.

I'm sure this Rasta kid has been back in the U.S. for a while now and has been to MickeyD's numerous times to remedy the effects of the munchies.

Party on.....

It's amazing how many "redneck" opinions are being offered. From people cursing the offender to crying for long prison terms. This is scary evidence of how well so many people have been indoctrinated by their governments and authority figures to believe that marijuana is the "Devil's Weed".

I would bet dollars to doughnuts that there is more than one of those people, who are screaming for harsh treatment of the smoker, who have got behind the wheel of a car knowing that they've had too much to drink and shouldn't be driving, which is obviously a much worse and more dangerous offense than some tourist smoking a cannabis cigarette. However, alcohol is legal but cannabis isn't, so he put him in jail. Unbelievable! Even though there is vast evidence showing that alcohol is physically, mentally, and socially MUCH MORE damaging than cannabis, great numbers of people blindly accept the bullsh*t laws we have.

Perhaps you should look a bit deeper into why cannabis is illegal in most countries in the world and booze is not. There obviously is a reason.

Think you forget that those around the guy are having to smoke it too, like it or not. But those around this guy if drinking a beer would not be affected eh.

There's no obvious reason. It's tradition. Alcohol is by far the worst of the 2 drugs.

OK, so you want me to comment on the second bit too....

Alcohol causes a lot aggression so it really does affect people sitting nearby.

There are so many positive uses for cannabis that we are missing out on due to draconian laws. We're seeing a similar thing happening with drugs such as pseudoephidrine, just because some people abuse them. It's the very best nasal/sinus decongestant available bar none.

Compare alcohol, where abuse is extremely widespread and even considered acceptable by a large percentage of the population.

It's a lot easier to die from an overdose of alcohol than smoking too much pot.

I am sorry to say this but what an idiot, what was he thinking??

Thinking? Did you see his hair?

So if we want to appear reasonably intelligent we should shave our heads?

My experience is those that bash someone's hair regardless are usually those that cannot grow any themselves.
