Actor Steve Landesberg from 'Barney Miller' TV series dead at 65

NEW YORK CITY (BNO NEWS) -- American actor Steve Landesberg died on Monday after battling cancer for several months, his agent confirmed on Tuesday. He was 65.

"It is with great sadness to report the loss of my friend and client Steve Landesberg," agent Jeffrey Leavitt said. "Working with Steve was an honor both personally and professionally. My heart goes out to his family. He will be missed."

Landesberg, of New York City, is best known for his work on the TV series 'Barney Miller,' which ran from the mid 70s through the early 80s. He is also known for his portrayal of pediatrician Dr. Rosenbaum in 2009s 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall.'

After beginning his career in New York City's theaters, Landesberg also went on to appear in 'The Rockford Files', 'The Golden Girls', and 'Everybody Hates Chris'.
