Garmin Nuvi 205W Purchased In Uk

Featured Replies

I have a Garmin Nuvi 205W with UK maps installed. Was wondering whether to bring it along when I return to Thailand. I'm fed up with getting lost and having arguments when driving with the girlfriend. I can purchase

City Navigator® Southeast Asia NT

online for GBP 99 which to me seems quite expensive. Is there a Pantip option? I've browsed other threads and realise that Thai language won't be available, and if I wanted that what would I have to do? Would it just be cheaper to buy a new GPS in Bangkok? I paid just GBP 65 for this unit new in the UK.

You can buy Thai maps and load them on your 205W. Try goggle Gadgetrend, you can get a map for 2000 bath with one free update included. Thai & English.

I got a 205W as well, but purchased in Thailand (above shop), nice bit of kit :), I never leave town (in the car) without it.

English only, no Thai script or language available on a UK purchased Garmin GPS..

ESRI Thailand Street Map is 2,000 baht plus installation from retailers in Thailand for Garmin GPS units purchased outside Thailand.

Does ESRI Thailand Street Map differ from what's available on the official Garmin website?

No Pantip / Fortune Tower / Ban Mor / Yowarat alternatives?

Garmin sells "City Navigator Southeast Asia NT" by NavTeq. An entirely different map is available from ESRI as "Thailand Street Map". Rotweiler maps offers their "All Thailand" alternative. No map is 100% accurate and suits all users, any of the three maps mentioned here will keep you from getting lost in Thailand.

205 will cost you way more here, i got mine in UK, i purchased the sd card from secondhand maps sometimes advertised on here, works perfect, i would not buy another unit way to expensive. maybe somebody else can give full correct name.

Easy, get the Thailand Street Map from ESRI on microSD/SD card and just pop it in the slot. Do not load the new map into internal memory, you could delete the US map.

Gadget Trend is in Amarin Plaza, inside the camping complex. Same floor as you walk in off the BTS.
