OSLO, NORWAY (BNO NEWS) --Norwegian daily newspaper Aftenposten says it has been able to access over 250,000 Wikileaks documents, including diplomatic cables.

Ole Erik Almlid, Aftenposten news editor, said the paper has not paid to have access to the documents has gained complete and unconditional access to view them. He did not reveal the source, however.

With the available documents, Almlid went on to explain that the paper will decide what to publish and how they handle the information. The editor added that the paper will continue to review the available documents with the same editorial criteria and ethical rules as the rest of its journalism.

Considering the Wikileaks documents as primary sources, Almlid said they evaluate if the information is interesting and cut out any private information or that regarding security issues.

Furthermore, he said the issues that have been discussed in the paper so far have significant importance to its readers. With further access to new documents, readers can expect more revelations, Almlid added.
