Grommets

Featured Replies

Global House and other places that stock electrical bits and pieces have loads of wall boxes and junction boxes with perforated breakout holes but nowhere can I find rubber grommets to either protect the wiring from sharp edges or if using them outdoors (for my irrigation system) to keep the rain out. OK, I can fill all the holes with silicone but it's messy and I can't believe that they're not available from somewhere. Any ideas? PS Merry Christmas to you all.

Interesting question. If all fails just cut inch strips of water hose pipe that fit nicely in the holes. :)

Grommets both blind and regular are available in various sizes from NPE (branches in Zeer Rangsit and Ban Moh, Chinatown, Bangkok)

Yeap, since grommets are basically electrical safety devices, they are hard to find in Thailand unless you just happen to know the right stores like the one Crossby mentoned. Safety First in Thailand.

In my previous residence I had two new flow through hot water heaters installed for my showers and they came with the grommets. Later I noticed that the guy did not install the grommets. I looked around and found them in the trash. I couldn't figure out if he didn't know what they were for of if he was just being lazy. I just retrieved them and rewired everything myself.

I'm in Chiang Mai but it's heartening to know that they at least exist here :D. I'm really surprised that GH doesn't keep at least the common sizes to go with the boxes but then again they don't stock ready to hang shelves either....

If our OP (or anyone else) would like to PM me their grommet requirements I can pop into NPE and bung them in the post :)

Need to do it before 1/1/11 though, I'm off back to incredible India :(

I saw a kid the other day with some kind of grommet stuck through his ear lobe. A new fashion I guess.
