Casinos At Poipet

Featured Replies

I would like to go with a group of thais to the casino for a weekend and have heard so many stories about visa problems and cons.we will be traveling by road.

Could anyone advise me on how you get a visa, the costs and where do you pay for it?

You can get a visa upon arrival (at the immigration post as you cross the border) and last time I entered Cambodia, I think it cost 1000 baht.

PS: I think you will also need a passport photo for the visa.

If you are going for a weekend when you get there the first thing you need to do is cross the boarder and get your visa before visiting the casinos, the first time I went I made the mistake of spending a night at the casinos before travelling on, which caused a few problems. It's best to have two passport photos with you otherwise they will charge you more, it's also best to pay in dollars as it works out cheaper that paying in baht. Ignore all the guards that want a bribe to push you through the que quicker and the touts trying to sell you forms. Just get the form from an official fill it in and join the que, it's not that difficult if you ignore the guards and touts. Wait thirty minutes and come back through the Thai boarder control which is a lot easier than the Cambodian side.
