What To Do?

Featured Replies

I have a marriage visa, I think it is a type "O". It allows 90 day entry, and it runs out 26th Friday. But I am returning to Uk on the 28th of next month. Should I do a visa run to Poi Pehn, or can I get a 1 month extension in Bangkok at immigration??

Any help much appreciated

I take it this will be your first extension of your non-immigrant typo O visa.

You left it a bit late to apply for an extension (which can be done in Bangkok), as I understand from what I’ve read in this forum that the first extension for the purpose “support Thai wife” takes several weeks.

Read this for requirements: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?sh...+visa+extension

Should the above link not work (because long links get cut when posting here) try this link:

For the first application for extension, expect to have to submit the full works, plus anything else the Immigration Officer may ask for. So trot along to Suan Plu (if you reside in Bangkok) without further delay with the initially required documents and your wife and see what they say.

The application form TM 7 can be downloaded here:

Hopefully, the Immigration Office will not reject your application on the spot and instead stamp your passport with something like “Application for extension of stay is under consideration. Applicant must contact the temporary permit section in person on…”

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Sorry I didn't make myself too clear.

I have been living in Thailand for 3 months nearly on my first type "o" visa. The missus has been granted a settlement visa, so rather than going to do a border run for a further 90 days I wanted to know whether it would be cheaper too, and easier to go to immigration to get a 1 month extension. Rather than wasting a day going to that sh1t hole Poi Pehn!!!

Just noticed it is next month that you leave. Immigration is not likely to give you enough extension to cover that (but if you want to ask do it today). I would be on my way to the border to obtain a new entry as you seem to have a multi entry type O visa if you expect 90 days. The one trip would then cover the remainder of your stay.

Yep no way round it for you i/m afraid..................try to get a run that goes to "Pong Nam Ron" (sp?) bit further travelling but the turnaround at the border time is approx 30 mins.
