What's That Word?

Featured Replies

On another thread someone mentioned the word "lamok". I thought it meant "troublemaker". Does it? Which word clearly defines troublemaker?

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Thanks loong. I saw the word lamok on the thread and wondered if it could also loosely mean "troublermaker". My ear for Thai is not well developed. Perhaps the word I heard was something like lam bok.

Khap khun kap Bambina. You're a treasure here at TV. :D:D

"Lamok" Hmmm. It appears I am not a troublemaker afterall but rather I'm a dirty minded fellow, oh my! Given the circumstances I'd say both translations did indeed apply to me at the time. :o

Ah yes,

ลำบาก

Lumbuk ( However is spelt) means "troublesome" or "difficult"

It's yet another expression that is difficult to know exactly when to use. In fact it's a 'Lumbuk' word! :o

It is an adjective not a noun, so cannot mean Troublemaker

Maybe "Khon Lumbuk" or " Khon Kwam Lumbuk " would be a troublemaker? in a sense of a person who causes difficulties as opposed to one looking for a fight.

I'm Babbling here, have no idea really :D

ลำบาก means difficult as in a difficult life ชีวิตลำบาก - a life of poverty, hardship, a struggle to survive.

I would say ตัวยุ่ง or ตัวเจ้าปัญหา is what you are looking for here.....
