ClockworkOranges
Hi guys. Im assuming Poipet is the closest border for me from Hua Hin. Im assuming you simply just drive there, leave the car on Thai immigration side, walk through and then walk straight back in. Is that the case? or is there a reason people use companies like Jacks Golf etc?
PoorSucker
Drive to Ranong and enter Burma and return. Why go to Cambodia?
ClockworkOranges
Thanks Poor Sucker. You are 100% right I just google mapped it and its at least 2 hours shorter. According to Google Maps Ranong is about 5 hours away. Can anyone tell me how easy it is to do an Ranong? I have done it before when I lived on Samui but i used a visa run company. Three questions though..... 1) I just park my car at Ranong immigration? 2 ) I pick any longtail boat to Burma? Are the boats right next to Thai immigration? 3) Are both borders open every day? Thanks a million CO
keestha
In Ranong, you could also go to the Club Andaman pier and leave your car in the parking lot there. There are boats going almost every hour, you could have lunch at Club Andaman or visit the casino. There is an immigration office at the pier. Club Andaman is on an island just inside Burma, before boarding the boat you'll be stamped out and coming back you'll be stamped in.
Guest
Club Andaman is the way to go, very easy and pleasant for a visa run from HH.
H2oDunc
Club andaman is by far the easiest and most comfortable way but if you want to go native then go to the immigration and get stamped out. Come out of immigration turn right and head down to the pier behind the PTT gas station on the right hand side. Simply get on a longtail going across to Burma paying around 50 baht. At Burma you need 10 dollars or you can pay in baht and get a crap exchange rate . Have a wonder around the town and market grab a ber and some food and simply get back on another longtail going back to Ranong. You can pick up a very nice bottle of gin there for abound 35 baht. 200 cigs for 80 baht etc. When I lived in Chumphon I used to go a couple of times a week. Take your camera with you as well as the drive across the mountains to Ranong has some stunning scenery.

What utter, complete alarmist crap! Your post reminds me of the many " Ride a motorbike in Thailand and die for sure " postings that litter TV. I have ridden this road hundreds of times and found it to be far from dangerous. Stunning scenery and a delight for a biker to ride but dangerous NO! If I can ride from Chumphon to Ranong in 40 minutes then I would put it to you the road is far from dangerous. In fact I feel far safer riding a motorbike here than I ever did back in the UK. At least here the drivers are expecting motorbikes to be around them. The guy is also I believe in a car. Nothing dangerous about it especially in a car! Crossing the road is dangerous if you don't take normal care!
