CIRCLEVILLE, UTAH (BNO NEWS) -- A light earthquake rattled parts of Utah on early Monday morning, seismologists said, but there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

The 4.5-magnitude earthquake at 5.06 a.m. MST (1206 GMT) was centered approximately 8 miles (13 kilometers) northwest of Circleville, a town with about 500 residents in Piute County. It struck about 0.2 mile (0.3 kilometer) deep, making it a shallow earthquake, according to the University of Utah Seismograph Stations.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) estimated that approximately 1,000 people may have felt light earthquake shaking as a result of the earthquake, but said damage or casualties were not expected.
