My goodness the Police must have been very disappointed..No Tea Money; how disappointing :realangry:

What are you talking about?

They reported no drugs found -- there must've been tons of tea money.

In the 16 people arrested, there is at least one who is innocent.... Ann was seating at thr Full Moon Bar, waiting for her boy fried, a french man, she never took yaba or any drug... So she was not scared of the police raid. Yhe police asked her to piss for the test and founf her positive. BECAUSE SHE TAKE SOME MEDECINE SINCE 5 YEARS NOW for stomach problems... So she went to prison in Soi 9 and later transfered elsewhere... She asked to go to hospital to be blood cheked but the POLICE REFUSED to haapy to have a suspect arrested... So with some friends we provided food and the 30 000 baths police asked for here released... TOmorros she will be free and we wioll go to hospital anyway for blood check and show it to the police so they will see the mistake... But they dont care of course, only money ans statistic to please the cheeaif, ven if in prison is a poor girl without her medecine now sepnding time for nothing... THAILAND LAND OF SMILE ? NOT SURE....

Cool! I just love a parade!

Has anyone heard a single mention of drug/alcohol testing having been done on the girl that was involved in the accident that killed 9 or so Thammasat University students??

Without the PD places like pattaya would not exist...

It's incredibly frustrating reading this story, it's blatantly clear that the operation was pointless from the beginning.

Are the honest & responsible people in power pulling their hair out in frustration, just as I am, at this complete lack of competence/blatant pointless excercise?

No they are not pulling their hair out, the people in power are celebrating with the benefits they received, first from the competition who wanted the raid. Second from what they got for the tip off.

'honest & responsible people in power'? Where have you been?

I knew as I was writing that what a silly statement it was, maybe it was just wishful thinking, however, you have to hope that there are some responsible people in power :(

Sorry for Ann. That is bad. But Ann is very lucky to have good friends like you.

When the hospital says to the police that there is no drugs, can you get a refund for the 30,000 baht ?

So, a force of Police, that is actually larger than the number of Police in Pattaya, turn out not to be Police but a mix of those beige uniforms and Navy guys, carry out the largest drugs bust Pattaya has seen and catch 16 offenders, no dealers, nor large ammounts of drugs and affect all other businesses that were operating within the law. The collective talents of volunteers, trained Officers, and Navy professionals capture 16 offenders. That's a ratio of 22 to 1. I bet those statistics stay as hidden as a naked chained Brit in a cell on Soi 9.

Navy guys then. Five of them went in first undercover ahead of the Police. One was dressed as a Red Indian, another a construction worker, a third was in motorcycle leather gear, a new York City cop [bit of a give away] and a guy in beige coloured Postal worker gear [ that was a give away - since when did the post ever arrive in Thailand?] The Lady Boys thought it was operation Cobra all over again. But of course there was a different sting in the tail.

Strange going for nice, quiet, respectable family orientated Soi 6 when just across town off Soi Buckow is the biggest dealing area in Pattaya. Soi Chaiyapum where the NAVY deals its drugs under Police co-operation as they can't do anything about the Navy Uniform or its wearers. Hold on a minute. A need for accuracy. Where the Navy stores ahead of distribution, in those run down cheap rental rooms just off Third Road, its ya-ba tablets.

So lets add a little meat to the bone. A certain Navy Boss orders the shut down interuption of a rival across town and the Police say 'that's a good idea'. But surprise surprise it's all flash and show with no one being put out other than a few lady boys who have to point their pussies at the piss pot in order to register a urine sample that the Police like the colour of. In a working life those girls will have had a good few stranger requests usually involving rubber hose, several pots of jam, a 14 inch dildo they're told to make disappear, a cuddly toy and callingout to an over weight visiting german ' Gunther, Sugar babes I love it whip me harder.' All in a day's work then.

Any more of this and they'll have the drugs off the streets for good.

Since when is any soi in Pataya UNcorrupt? All of them are not honest like you think. Maybe you need glasses.

Thai Police own many bars in Pattaya, selling girls and booze after hours.

The Soi 6 bars must be foreign owned is my guess.

Either you are trolling, or your 'friend' and the police are splitting the cash. Whenever there is a bust like this the girls a fined a few hundred baht then sent on their way

" A 350-strong Police operation " :o

Dear Khun Commander of Police

As there were no drugs after, all may i humbly suggest that

some of these fine officers be assigned to traffic duty so that beach road

is more readily navigable instead of looking like a car park

As a resident of Pattaya, I would love to see "most" of the sex trade bars closed down and restricted to a few small zones: one area for the straights one for the gays and one for the katoeys (the katoey area are should be wired up with surveillance cameras to attempt to prevent the usual crimes they commonly commit... drugs thieving etc...)

I moved shop to Pattaya after working 20 years in Bangkok, I like the idea of a city (big town) being so close to the capital yet having good beaches nearby and fresh air etc.. But it has to grow up a bit more and become beautiful (The Monti Carlo of Thailand) I would hope prices don't go through the roof as it is in Phuket when it starts to improve.

The police should concentrait on their work of removing the scum out of Pattaya... Thieves, gangs, drug dealers, bad police officers and scammers. Drug addicts should not be arrested but sent to a rehab center to teach and cure them (Most Yabba addicts in Pattaya are sadly teenagers) (take away and cure the customers)

It would be so good if the City Council could devote a lot more planning and zoning to Pattaya as it has the potential to be great.

Exactly...

AND:

Problem is they come down hard on the people who are the victims (the drug users) Innocent teenagers are lured into taking various drugs by the dealers. The users are arrested... the guardians are phoned by some crooks calling themselves lawyers, they say come down to Soi 9 with 20,000 Baht and we can help you and have your kid out in a couple of hours otherwise he or she will be going to Bang Buang Center. The police literally make millions out of the drug trade from families of users, addicts and from the dealers.

Are there no truly compassionate Thais in authority that can stand up against this disgusting racket? :bah:

350 of them? That would take up half the soi..that's a big team...and have seen police in Bangkok wearing black polo's last year doing a raid!

Its all show.

They don't want to stop the drug trade it makes them too much money.

Putting on a spectacular show is only to scare the people involved in their favorite industry (users suppliers, importers and dealers) so they can keep the "on the make" value high.

Of course we see some big arrests, such as Iranians, Somalians etc trying to move drugs without the police proxy's permission, and sometimes we see a drug gang (Khon Thai) being paraded in the media (what you don't see is the private deal being made behind closed doors)

The least I can say is you are very inspired by this story. The story itself was rather boring, but you managed to give it some colors (probably because you're a house painter). Thanks for making me laugh.

thank you so much - a lovely lightening to the otherwise dreary day in school :)

I am surprised no one mentioned, nor did Pattaya One report on, the two huge tourist double decker buses that effectively blocked the Soi during the " raid ". One of them contained the laboratory that tested the samples on the spot. The other one tried to back up the Soi from Beach Road but the Soi was too small so he gave up. At first I thought the second bus was for the "arestees" but no, the poky wagon truck left the Soi after the lab bus with them, so the second bus must have been to transport part of that 350 man police contingent

My point is that the police have the equipment to enforce the drunk driving laws during the holidays, too bad no one thinks it's important enough to use it for that purpose
