Neeranam
How many ways are there to get this concept across? I know the saying - "wan dto wan" and อย่าตีตนไปก่อนไข้ meaning "Don't beat yourself before the fever comes." There is also don't count your chickens - ไป่เห๊นน้ำเร่งตัดกระบอก cutting the bamboo before the water is seen. Any other ideas?
Girlfrombar
How many ways are there to get this concept across?I know the saying - "wan dto wan" is this วันต่อวัน ? if yes, it means day by day = u are just easy to do something, u make it at ease, collect it day by day until the deadline etc., but if it's 'one day at a time' i think it's other meaning....... u rushly finish within one day? and อย่าตีตนไปก่อนไข้ meaning "Don't beat yourself before the fever comes." = don't think too much There is also don't count your chickens - ไป่เห๊นน้ำเร่งตัดกระบอก cutting the bamboo before the water is seen. this one sorry, just heard it here! Any other ideas? <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

BambinA
ไป่เห๊นน้ำเร่งตัดกระบอกcutting the bamboo before the water is seen. Any other ideas? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ไม่เห็นน้ำตัดกระบอก ไม่เห็นกระรอกก่งหน้าไม้ = rush to do somthing ,even its not the right nor appropriate time (ด่วนทำอะไรลงไปทั้งๆที่ยังไม่ถึงเวลาอันควร) Bambi PS.ไม่เห็นกระรอกก่งหน้าไม้ = prepare to shot by Crossbows even you never seen the squirrel yet
BambinA
อย่าตีตนไปก่อนไข้ = worry or concern with something that won't happend yet example ..you are really concern that you wont pass the exam ,you cant eat,can sleep..you are in trouble time coz you worry too much even the examination result doesnt present yet อย่าตีตนก่อนไข้เลย ผลสอบยังไม่ออก Bambi
siamesekitty
ช้าๆ ได้พร้าเล่มงาม = literal translation: Slowly, and you will end up with a beautiful knife (referring to the act of sharpening your knife; you have to be patient when doing it, otherwise the metal will get worn away prematurely)
the scouser
อย่าตีตนไปก่อนไข้ = worry or concern with something that won't happend yet<{POST_SNAPBACK}> May I venture, "don't cross that bridge until you come to it". "One day at a time" does not imply haste but, rather, a lack of urgency, as Siamesekitty has highlighted; e.g. a person who suffers from terminal cancer may be said to take one day at a time. Scouse.
