Ftp Server

Featured Replies

I'm trying to get some manuals from a someone that is using a FTP server, how do I get one so i can access this and make the DL?

cheers for the help,

SB

I'm a bit confused here :o

If I understand correct you need an ftp client program, which will enable you to download some manuals from an ftp-server where they are hosted...

If so you can download some clients.

Cuteftp, one of the more popular programs, has 30 day trial:

Or alternative

Freeware: coreftp

Filezilla (google for it) is an FTP client with a built in FTP server. Never tried to use it as a server personally, but it might be a start.

Cute FTP is excellent, and you can get a cracked copy from your local computer plaza.

If you don't need to access FTP servers often, don't bother with installing and setting up a dedicated client, just use Internet Explorer.

In the address bar just paste the address you were given, something like ftp://something.xxx/

You may have a window asking for username and password, those shoud have been given to you before.

Then you can copy any file from the server to your computer (ctrl+c in the IE window, ctrl+v in the windows explorer window where you want to store the file).

SmartFTP.. Free for non commercial use and my favorite of all the ones I have tried..

well ...

for just a download ??

just type ftp://username:password@url

in your firefox,ie,opera,whatever window ..

work fine ;-)

why define the world new ... ;-)

SmartFTP.. Free for non commercial use and my favorite of all the ones I have tried..

I can recommend this SmartFTP also- been using it for a lonnng time!

Full of features.. CHMOD etc, and very intuitive / easy to use.
