Tomorrow I will go to Korat Immigration to see what is needed to change the visa issued initially for 90 days in Vientiane., Expires Feb 1, 2011, Non B, with WP to retirement visa based on income from abroad. I have listened to all the posts, know what I should have to have ready for them. (And will by the weeks end) I am not asking for help here. Just to keep all those who view my posts updated, will post after Immigration visit.

Same requirements as if getting one year extension of stay based on retirement that you can do on your non-B.

So off I went this morning with everything that I had been told to being by both posters here and the immigration office. Changing Non B, with WP in first 90 days of validity to Non O based on retirement. I needed a receipt showing that I had been to the Labor Office, to return the WP, although they gave me the WP back. I needed an affidavit from the embassy to say that I had sufficient monthly retirement funds coming into my foreign account 65,000 Bhat. Copies of all pages of passport with Thai Immigration and Visa stamps. Letter from landlord confirming that I am living here. The visa application form and 1,900 Bhat. It took about 45 minutes. the initial 90 day visa expires Feb 1, 2011, now the new visa is good until Feb 1, 2010. Don't have to leave the country every 90 days.

They also considered this to be the first day of 90 day reporting, I guess because it is the day the new visa was issued. Not to be confused with 90 days from my last entry.

Asking about purchasing re-entry permits and transferring them to a new passport in the near future, I was told that the re-entry permits would have to used within the validity of the present passport, or in the 3 pages of space remaining, that they could not be transferred, we concluded that purchasing re-entry stamps as I need them my be the best way to go. So after a year of many things not working out here, something good has.
