At least 25 killed in Mexico's Acapulco, 15 beheaded

MEXICO CITY (BNO NEWS) -- At least 25 people were killed within a time lapse of 24 hours in Mexico's touristic port of Acapulco, local media reported Sunday.

Of the 25 victims, 14 decapitated bodies were found - and one with its neck barely connected to the rest of its body - in front of a shopping center in the early hours of Sunday.

An emergency call was made to local authorities, saying that the bodies were spread out in front of the Sendero shopping center in the LLano Largo neighborhood of Acapulco, which is a common weekend travel spot located in the southwestern state of Guerrero. All of the bodies had gunshot wounds and messages linked to Joaquin 'el Chapo' Guzman's drug cartel.

Local authorities had reportedly identified 7 of the 15 bodies. Three of them were underage.

Later in the morning, at around 9:30 a.m. local time, 6 more bodies were found inside a parked taxi on the Vicente Guerrero Boulevard. All of the bodies had high-caliber gunshot wounds.

In addition, Abraham Martinez Guzman, 29, was killed on the Mexico City-Acapulco federal highway in an area commonly known as El Guayabo. His body was found with several gunshot wounds from AK-47 and AR-15 assault rifles. He was found inside a vehicle.

Furthermore, another 2 bodies were found after being ditched in a small canal beside a Soriana supermarket near Cuauhtemoc Avenue, and an additional body was found with at least 10 gunshot wounds in the Llano Largo neighborhood.

Further details regarding the killings were unavailable, but Mexico's federal government condemned the violent actions. Through its Government Secretariat, it went on to offer further support with federal security forces to help combat the increasing violence.
