Bagwan
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-12152759 After reading this you might think the the rural Thai has it easy. Very pertinent that Thais are in the forefront of this land grab. Are they following Chuwit Kamolvisit's fine example of indifference to those struggling to survive in this cruel materialistic world? If Thailand is akin to Dodge City where does this leave Cambodia? Devils Island? I admit that it is fanciful kite to fly but is there any connection with Thaksin's employment as an advisor to the Cambodian Government and this appalling rape of poor farmers? When will the nightmare visited upon the Khmer people end? Those advocating that a move to Cambodia to avoid the excesses of Thailand might be a good idea might care to rethink. Is there any chance that the Thai press will pick up on this story and run with it? Don't hold your breath.
bermondburi
You are right, it is a " fanciful kite to fly " whatever that means. Don't see any connection between Thaksin having been an economic advisor to the Cambodian government ( he isn't any more and now Hun Sen is trying to buddy up to Abhisit ). In the article it clearly states that the land law was drafted in 2001 so how is this connected to Thaksin ? It's just rich people ( in this case Thai investors ) taking advantage of poor people. Nothing new here and nothing saying that it is limited to Thais either. In fact , in return for massive investment in the infrastructure of the country by the Chinese government I would think that many of these investing companies would be Chinese.
