rixalex
After all these years the chicken might still be crap, but they nailed the egg tart. Get them whilst they are hot. My tip of the day.

mca
I have to concur. They are quite nice. And the good thing is for delivery they come in packs of 2, 3 or 6. My wife doesn't like them, my daughter can manage 2, 1 isn't enough for me so it's a box of 6 and 4 for greedyguts me. I supposed I could get 2 boxes of 2 and only eat 2 myself. Nah. Ulysses G.
Shush! It does not matter if they are good, or not. You are supposed to say how crap all American fast food places are and how much more clever you are than " the herd" for recognizing that obvious truth. Didn't you learn anything at Uni? mca
^^ Yeah. I've got both the KFC and McDonalds delivery websites open next to TVF at this very moment weighing up my options. Edited January 14, 2011 by mca

So all is not lost. One burger every six weeks. It's a treat.

keemapoot
They're sort of like what we in the UK call egg custard. Yes, I tried them a couple weeks ago in Korat KFC and they are absolutely surprisingly delicious. I would call them an egg custard exactly. In the States it's the same thing. There's a curry house called, strangely 'The Kebab House', opposite the Tonle Sap guesthouse on Riverside, forget the street number. Just the best curry. World class. A mixed balti in a sesame seed bun, include gherkin. Fries wrapped in a buttered keema nan. Popadoms with BBQ sauce. A battered mars bar. Well, okay perhaps not the battered mars bar but I'll have to concentrate all this fatty carb goodness once I find a vendor. Saigon end of next week. You know and, this is the sad part. First thing that sprang to mind was 'I wonder if they have a Taco Bell?'

tw25rw
I like Thai KFC better than in the UK though the plate/glass/cutlery is a bit weird. Didn't try the custard tarts, though are a lifelong favourite..

rixalex
After reading this I've just ordered KFC delivery, including the egg tarts My only fear is, if you are eating them on top of greasy chicken and french fries, they might be a bit too much for your constitution to handle in one sitting. Then again, if you look like your avatar, perhaps not. I said my only fear. I lied. I have another. How well will they travel? The hot pastry is an essential part of what makes them so good. Tell your delivery boy to fly like the wind on his Fino - egg tarts are at stake.

I live just outside the delivery area for KFC, Pizza Company etc so I have to hop in the old jalopy and rendezvous with the delivery homie. I sit hunched over the wheel outside the local school frantically peering through the grimy windscreen into the night looking for that limp flag and topbox. Then the dreaded mobile phone call. A number you don't know. My man. " U Nai Khrap?" Where I said I'd frigging be. Parked in the main entrance of the high school. Quickly delivery lad!!!!!!!!!!!! Those fries are stone cold anyhow within 10 seconds of leaving the shop and time is running out for the rest with heat bordering between " That wasn't too bad" and " It's bloody cold why the <deleted> did I just waste my money?" Hailing from one of the UK's premier seaside resorts (think donkey's and a burnt Victorian pier), one learned always to trust ones instincts when overcome with the 'urge'. A bag of chips is not a pleasant delicacy and they may seem like a great idea at the time but we learn from past experience.
mca
See this is the problem. I know the fries are going to be colder that liquid hydrogen and taste like the cardboard from the inside of a roll of toilet tissue but to me a takeaway from KFC or wherever just isn't complete without fries. It's as if there's an integral part missing. A bit like being at home alone, watching some porno and not having a wank.

surayu
Ok i will tell you what are we talking about here, these custard eggs tarts are a traditional product of Portugal, their real name is Pastéis De Nata and they have been around since the early 1800's, i try them in EU and they are way better of this thai copy we get here, however the taste is still quite good, just compared to the originals they are way less sophysticated in taste (in the originals, the taste of the eggs it's not so predominant, if i remember right it would be more like a vanilla taste and here even the caramelyzed sugar disappeard!), for the chicken, my local branch made absolute rubbish, however the introduction of these cakes is a big improvement
Jingthing
Interesting. I have had tarts like that in Portugal and the Chinese dim sum ones are quite similar.
