Slaps
Could someone explain? Thailand has withdrawn its reservation to Article 7 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child http://www.mfa.go.th...35.php?id=26296
happyrobert
Why do you feel a child has "a right" to be registered? Sounds more like a car to me. What about the right to not be sexually molested then have the videos sold on the street in Pattaya? Maybe there should be something about that......... More useless legislation. Mario2008
It seems Thailand had made resevations regarding the right to be registered when born. This would have been specifically targeting stateless people, etc to prevent them from getting Thai nationality. It seems the Thai goverment was worried that registering a child would mean that the child could claim Thai nationality. It seems the Thai government has been satisfied that this is not the case and now withdrawn its objections. A child born in thailand now has the right to have his/her birth registered at the amphur, but that does not mean he/she has the right to Thai citizenship.
