Weekend In Pattaya ?

Featured Replies

Hi

I am thinking of getting out of Bangkok this weekend, and was not in the mood to fly so was think Pattaya. Will taxi's in Bangkok take you ? Any idea how much ? Or is there a train? Not a fan of buses!

Also what is the best hotel ? Seems Dusit Resort is pretty high up there. Just want a quiet weekend sitting by a pool / beach with some nightlife!

Taxi Meter will take you. Should be about 1200 baht don't pay more than 1500 including the road Toll.

As for Hotel, if it's a quiet one with a pool and a bit of nightlife your after, i'd probably just go to Jomtien and have a look around see which you like, plenty of vacancies.

You can take the train 35B :D AC car a little more 100b and not always available on the departure times, no return on Sat-Sun or the AC buss I forget 150-250b I like the train, you will meet some real down home Thais. Whistle stops have food, beer, and more of the same along the way. :D

I go on friday come back on Monday.

Have fun

Oh yes, For more information, you can call 1690

Take the train back on a weekday (one a day at 1450hrs) and it makes several stops at small university towns....man, you should see the girls that get on!!!

Only 35 baht too for the train. Lots of food and drinks on board, lots of vendors, journey takes about 3 and a half hours.

Alternative Hotels....OK Dusit and Marriott both on beach at Pattaya....

But have you considered some "alternative" options? There’s Sugar Hut...traditional Thai design very up market with a beautiful restaurant with rather bland food. Landscaped, forested gardens and pool. Crap management and staff.

Or my favourite; Cabbages and Condoms; a fabulous resort on the beach between Jomtien and Pattaya, fantastic gardens, rooms and bungalows, grow their own veggies and good (terraced) restaurant, pool with sea view and own beach. Lots of traditional Thai stuff everywhere and all for a good cause - read up on it

Cabbages and Condoms, Pattaya...
