Dear all:

I wanna apply a Tourist Visa, I know the peroid is 2 months, and I can extend 1 more month.

And I know some embassys need 2-way flight tickets, here is my question ..

1) Is it ok if I book a return ticket and the departing date is over 2 months (less then 3 months) then arriving date When I wanna apply tourist visa ??

2) in the application form, this is a "proposed duration of stay in Thailand" field, is it ok if It over 2 months (like 80 days)??

Cheers ..

It will be up to the Consulate where you apply. Most would not be concerned with such information if you live there or appear able to afford the trip.

Maybe I will do it in bali, jakarta or kl.

Any information in these places?? (need to show the tickets or not)

Thanks..

You will be OK.

with a 60 days tourist visa you can go to Thailand on one way ticket.

The 60 days can be extended with 30 days at any immigrations office,

Bring Passport photo and the 1900 baht fee.

As I am in a similar situation let me ask some related questions:

1. Is the form TM.7 in the following link the correct form for extension of stay:

?

2. I am staying at Ratchada close to Thai cultural center. Where is the closest immigration office in this area?

3. My two months permission of stay based on TR-visa ends in February 16. How long in advance can I go to an immigration office to apply for one-month extension?

Thanks.

1. Yes. Print on one A4 paper.

2. There is only one office for general use (other than boarding country nationals) and that is Soi 7, Chiang Watanna Road.

3. Not a set limit but one week would likely be accepted anywhere.

Regarding the immigration office in Chiang Watanna Road, do you know their working hours by any chance? Do they have a website in English?

Thanks.

You need to check with the airline you are planning to use, not the embassy or consulate. As far as I am aware, there has never been a requirement for people who already have a visa (of any type) to have a return ticket but there are a number of airlines that do not understand this. Emirates is one that stated to me they would not let me board a plane from LHR to BKK with a one-way ticket and a 60-day tourist visa, even though Thai immigration would have been perfectly happy for me to do so.

Actually there tickets are a requirement at many Consulates to obtain a visa. Often this is not applied to everyone but they sometimes do require. Once you have a visa there should not be any problem using one way tickets (unless you are suspected of being a terrorist).

Well I can only speak from my own experience. The question of a return air ticket has never been raised when I have applied for a tourist visa to Thailand (from more than one different consulate) and there is no reason why it should have been seeing as it is not a requirement to have one. I have however been informed by Emirates airlines staff and those of another airline (sorry, I cannot remember which one it was now) that it was their policy not to allow people holding a tourist visa to board their planes to Thailand, unless they had a return ticket. I pointed out to them that Thai immigration had no such policy but they refused to budge.

I think it's important to mention this to anyone asking about return tickets as it's a bit late to find out when you are at the airport trying to check in.
