BAHRAICH, INDIA (BNO NEWS) -- India's paramilitary personnel has arrested three Chinese nationals over spying suspicions in northern India near the Nepal border, the Times of India newspaper reported on Wednesday.

The three suspected spies, including a woman, were seen taking photographs of camps on Rupaidiha check post of the Indo-Nepal border. The arrest was made by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

Mipix Utidong, Hanksang and Chainlong were arrested on Monday night as they were allegedly spying on a SSB camp and the Indo-Nepal border. The three suspected spies are residents of Shangai.

The three individuals were questioned by SSB personnel and claimed to be engineers working in Nepal on a Chinese project. However, they entered Indian soil illegally as they did not posses passports and visas.

SSB added that the Chinese nationals arrived in a vehicle to the Indo-Nepal border, then left the car and entered India on foot. Recently, three other Chinese people were detained as they were taking photographs and sent to Dehli for interrogation.

Indian intelligence agencies are on high alert after receiving reports in regards to a possible illegal infiltration of six Chinese intelligence agents into India through the Indo-Nepal border.

The six agents entered India disguised as Buddhist monks. They have allegedly taken shelter in different Tibetan monasteries of Shravasti. The six Chinese nationals sought special permission from Indian Embassy in Nepal to visit India in the month of December.

However, their request was rejected after Embassy officials found their links to China's intelligence agencies. Nevertheless, the alleged spies entered illegally India and are jointly carrying out their mission.

China has mobilized agents to the Indo-Nepal border since the Maoist government took over in Nepal.
