First of all, please excuse me for asking a topic that was most likely answered before in the vast data base of Thaivisa. I am still learning how to navigate the site.

Here are my details:

I am married to a Thai citizen and we have 3 dual citizen children (US/Thai).

I obtained a single Non-Immigrant Visa from the Thai Consulate in the U.S.

I have been in Thailand for 1 month now. There are 2 more months left on my visa.

I do have the funds to transfer to a Thai bank (400,000 baht) but I prefer not to do this so I can just pull out what we need every month with my ATM. I don't have to pay the 150 baht ATM fees, thank god.

I have a retirement income that comes to a US Bank that satisfies the 40,000 monthly income. Can I just show immigration my monthly checking account and retirement statement? Other funds in my stock account?

Thank you. And can someone give the new address for immigration?

You either show bank deposit in Thailand or a letter from your Embassy of 40k income in the one year extension of stay process.

As you mention retirement be aware if over 50 and have 65k per month (or in combination with bank account to meet 800k per year) the retirement extension of stay is less paperwork and is done on same day.

If you planned to work you would want Thai wife extension of stay as you can not obtain a work permit on retirement. Other than that it is the required funds. Immigration much prefers to issue retirement as much less work and a local decision.

Lopburi, are there any differences between "retirement" visa and "marriage to a Thai" visa? Any benefits of one over the other?

Thank you.

A 12 month extension based on having a Thai Wife means you can work if you want. Also the financial requirements are lower.
