So far I have got for G/f's visit visa application:

1, Letter from me explaining relationship/reason for visit

2, Letter from parent stating house ownership/invitation

3, Contract of employment from work

4, Reference letter from work stating in Bangkok for 6 months

5, 6 months payslips

6, 6 months bankstatements (originals) / print out of savings (from internet)

7, Itemised phonebill proving contact as from time I arrived back in UK (don't have record of phonecalls whilst in LOS as I was using A Thai sim card)

8, Emails to and from since I left

9, Photos of me and G/f (about 12 photos, half from a farang/farang wedding and half from night out, not boozy ones though, well not too boozy!!)

10, The fee

And that's it from my side.

G/f has application form, I am going to ask my mate in Bangkok help her fill that out.

And she is aquiring a letter from her employer.

Is there anything else? Have we missed anything? :o

Thanks

Kitchen sink, 2 cuddly toys etc, etc,..... :o

Seriously though, Scouse might correct me but IMHO there's not much documentation from her side, to convince the Embassy that she has a good enough reason to return. Does she own any land, have a healthy bank balance, have any children and so on...............

No, no and nope! Arrrrghhh :o

I have thought about this, but this is our situation. It's not a good one for getting a visa but thats the way it is. All we can do is provide everything we do have and then pray.

If I put money in G/f's bank account, would that help do you think?

I can't see if Scouse is on, i think you need his advise. My initial thoughts on the "you putting your money in her bank" is a bit iffy. I'm not an ECO but i'd smell a Rat, if all of a sudden a large amount landed in the account.

Exactly! The visa officer would think that you're fattening your g/f's bank account solely for the purposes of getting a visa, so I wouldn't bother. Furthermore, you putting money in her bank account hardly gives her a reason to return to Thailand, especially when the source of the money (you) lives in the UK.

In terms of the supporting documentation, I think you've got it covered.

So, Rj81, are you up for the 7 Oct. piss-up? It will be either congratulations or commiserations, but make sure you come.

Not sure what else we can do. Am starting to get fed up with this whole thing, not on my G/f and getting her over, just this whole process. I know it's there for a reason and I fully agree with it. But if we do get knocked back I am going to totaly pissed off. :o

I know what you mean buddy. When you see all of these "illegals" coming in, it makes us genuine mortals really angry at the system. I'd be prepared to put up some sort of "bail" money to ensure that they return.

As Scouse says, copy of your passport, including the visit stamps to Thailand, this corroborates the timings of your relationship.

Are you coming to the piss up Rj? :o

Well, Mr BoJ and myself, Bangbuathongben said he'd come, as did news m. from Chester and not forgetting Vulture and his Mrs from Sheffield. Don't worry Rj, Mr BoJ and I may be a couple of old farts but we can drink pint-for-pint with you young whippersnappers.

By the way, the only people to have already met will be me and Vulture.

I think falangaman is coming also and i don't think his mrs is over here. Don't worry about being on your tod Rj. The women that do come, will end up chatting and we'll end up drinking

Only joking chaps, I can not drink as much as I used too. Could drink alot when I was 18, 19, 20 but now am sloshed after more than a handfull. :o:D:D

Well, do you and Mr BoJ wish to determine a venue?

Scouse.

Okay hmmm let me think...........

The Printworks has got quite a few bars, a club (not sure if anyone is up for a club though, I'm easy) plus a few of the bars do food also.

Errmmm..... Deansgate has all the latest trendy bars but it's notourias for bouncers refusing people entry for the slightest thing. The weatherspoons is a good meeting point and it's quite cheap, used to be known as Moon under the water. Also never been refused entry into there as of yet.

Castlefield has a few good pubs/bars

A good atmosphere, without really loud music would be ideal. Just can't think of a decent place though. I'll get my thinking cap on.

MrBoJ can you think of anywhere?

don't put money in her bank, buy her some land (with title) then she has a reason to return

Northstar

Has this worked for you? How much £££'s are we talking for land?

We are going to ask her Mum if she can sign some land over to her name also.

Whether it be money placed in the bank account or the acquisition of land, the timing will be subject to scrutiny and it is doubtful that any visa officer would view such an economic development clearly designed to enhance her credibility without the deepest suspicion.Do not try to gild the lily but simply rely upon the genuineness of your intentions supported by the relevant documents which you seem to have covered adequately. You can do no more.

I know what your saying mate, but I want to make sure we get it first time. All the sincerity in the world is great, but without any hard evidence it's unlikely we will get a visa. I know it's not fair, but thats the way it is. If the ECO's knew if people were genuine or not, we would be laughing. But all they have is what is presented to them, so I am trying to cover all angles.

Thanks for your advise, and yeah your right, any changes to her bank account / land ownership status would look dodgy.

From my experience last year whilst applying with gf for visitor visa, one of the main criteria in the ECO's eyes is a genuine reason to return to LOS.

From reading the beginning of your post you pretty much have your documents in place however the ECO will be wanting to see evidence that your gf has such reason to return when her visa period elapses. This can be employment, land owned by her, having a business, etc..... . Saying that I have read posts where applicants have had much less than the above and have been issued with visas, which I say good for them. Unfortunately the main onus is with your gf's status whereas a settlement visa is based on your relationship with your gf and your financial status, etc.... here in the UK.

When my gf applied for v v she had a small business in LOS and had a " healthy " bank balance. Approx. 6 months before she applied I " helped her account grow " so that it was in a healthier condition by the time she applied for v v and there wasn't vast amounts going into her account in one go.

Best of luck.

I spent £3000, can't say it was the reason visa was granted, but i'm sure it will have helped in the overall application

Cheaper to get the land off her mum though!

Good luck
