Hi,

Just wanted to ask for some advice.

I have a 30 day visa exempt stamp and wish to get a 60 day tourist visa to follow it.

Are these 2 options correct.

1) Buy a cheap one way ticket, exiting Thailand, use it as proof on onward travel, and apply for the 60 day tourist visa in Bangkok ( then discard the ticket)

2) Do a visa run to Malaysia or Laos etc and re-enter by Air.

I am looking for the most economic way of obtaining the 60 visa,I would have thought option 1 ( if it is a viable option) would be the best for me,but trailing round forums I cant seem to " nail totally" that this will work.

Would appreciate your advice.

Regards

A Visa cannot be obtained in Bangkok.

You have to apply at a Thai Consulate in another country.

Leaving Thailand and returning without a Visa will give you 30 days by air and 15 days by land.

Goggle 'Visa Run Companies'

There are a number of companies that do, vis bus or mini van for around 5,000 baht includes single room Hotel + meals + transport + all paperwork = double 60 day Visa [2x 60 days + many other post on here about going to Immigration at the end of each 60 days @ 1,900 baht extensions for an extra 30 day each = almost 6 months.

Never been but Laos they take you to the Thai Embassy, passports returned to your Hotel next day.. Cambodia it appears [a friend went last week] that it is all done for you at the Cambodia Hotel you do not have to visit the Thai Embassy in Person.

If you go to Lao.. Double entry Tourist Visa 60/30 (that's two) are still free until March 31. Only Lao. That would give you 6 month stay in Thailand.
