Koh Samui Rental 1 Month

Featured Replies

I want to spend 1 month on Koh Samui as a prelude to moving to Thailand. What is a reasonable price to pay for a one bedroom rental in a relatively safe neighborhood? Is 9k baht doable?

So far I've visited Koh Chang, Koh Samet, Koh Phi Phi, and Phuket (twice). I found Koh Chang too undeveloped and Phuket a little too overdeveloped. Well would you rate Koh Samui compared to those other islands. I am a married man who loves the tropics and wants a place where I can live comfortably on about 40K USD a year. I have been married to a Thai lady for 35 years and really enjoy Thai food and culture. What's your thoughts?

Thanks

RickThai

Spending a month here is an excellent idea to research the place.

THB 9,000 a month is perhaps doable for somewhere to live, but with about THB 100,000 a month to spend, I am not sure I would choose that option. That kind of budget will fund a very comfortable lifestyle here, unless you have a serious problem with champagne.

Koh Samui's developement is the closest development to the middle between Phuket's developement and Koh Chang's developement.
