Pop singer Kesha sued $14 million by former managers

NEW YORK (BNO NEWS) -- Pop singer-song writer Kesha is being sued for $14 million by her former managers for breach of contract, MTV reported Tuesday.

Ken Freundlich, who is representing the DAS Communications, which employs Kesha's former managers, told the TV station that the singer "unceremoniously terminated DAS without justification" and ended up with producer Dr. Luke.

"DAS was Kesha's manager since the beginning of 2006, and there was a written agreement, and they worked closely," Freundlich explained. "Sometime in September 2008, Dr. Luke, for his own personal gain, somehow induced her to breach that contract."

Freundlich continued saying they had filed suit against Kesha for breach of contract and against Luke for interference. The $14 million sum was determined as the singer has "been quite successful."

In turn, Kesha filed a suit in California against the management team, claiming they acted as an "illegal talent agent," but Freundlich believes that even though it is still pending, it "does not have any merit."

Kesha's active music career began at the age of 18 in 2005, but her appearance in Flo Rida's 2009 'Right Round' jump started her solo career, releasing her first single 'Tik Tok' later that year. The single reached number one in eleven countries, bringing her to international fame.
