January 26, 201115 yr kind of a rant and letting off steam but i would like to know other folks experiences too and best how to correct this one if at all possible be it do it myself, pay someone to do it, or move, etc... the thing is i like where i live besides this one huge problem i believe most every time i asked them to fix something they either did not do it, did not do it correctly, i had to do it myself, had it redone myself, only lead to more problems later when they did it, or some kind of combination of theses (if that is possible) I WANT TO SCREAM but realize the problem is in me and my expectations

OK. Seems fair enough, You like where you live, Maintenance is not very good, How high on your list of priorities is maintenance? If its low, then are you just grizzling to get something off your chest? If it's high, then are you just fantasizing about somewhere out your budget when you say "...I like where I live..?" Anyway, thanks very much for reminding me what I pay for. I don't pay for space I don't pay for address *1 I don't pay for facilties *2 But the service is top notch - Oh happy days ! I guess we can most of us say that if we are not skinflints SC *1 although as it happens, it is very convenient *2 although the facilities are better than minimal Anyway, to get back to the OP; if it is helpful, I am laughing,.,, oh that takes me back to a night in the Teviot Student Union...happy days! Maybe you cound do better spending more time reminiscing? SC
January 27, 201115 yr or some kind of combination of theses(if that is possible) No problem whatsoever. I did mine on " The Possibility Of Using Earwax As An Alternative Energy Source And It's Relation To Boney M's Number One Singles Of The '70s " and look at me now. Made it Ma! Top Of The World!
January 27, 201115 yr I know how he feels. My hot shower stopped working due to long term low water pressure problem. 1st Thai solution: You got cold water, what problem? Screams and wailing from me led to, 2nd Thai soultion:Use hot shower in room on lower floor. That's it. Fixed. Why don't I move? Free Internet, free leccy, free water (subject to pressure), free drinking water. Low(ish) rent. TIT

Washing out of a pail reminds me of the days when I was stuck in the bush. At least I have a proper western toilet with double ply soft tissue. No bum gun for me and no aspirated feces.

How on Earth do you live with no bum gun? With good aim and the right pressure you can get yourself really clean. I understand what the OP means (not quite understood what he actually said tho), I went through a heap of contractors before I found a great one for my little joint in Indo, she even cooks!!!

This is Thailand. Money talks, even though most people here call themselves 'Buddhist'.. If I were you I would agree on a suitable pay, both for quality work (e.g. a bonus) AND for lax work (i.e. much lower). If they just mess around rather than doing quality work, give them only he lower pay, but if they do a good job offer them the higher pay for it.

My 'handyman' is pretty good (has sorted out all my other probs) but is still trying to sort out my plumbing problems.... Heavy sigh.

That is the case all over the world not just a Thai scenario. The solution is simple. What would you do at home? Would you continually use cowboys who made a hash of the job or would you shop around and pay more for a decent reputable contractor who would do the job with guarantees? Things here really aren't as different at home as most like to think. Apply the same common sense as you did there and you'll find life becomes a whole lot easier.
February 5, 201115 yr It's absolutely an Auckland NZ problem too and their fees are huge. Careful experienced specialists who don't charge the earth are rare anywhere. The leaky building repairers on my son's house created even greater leaky building damage with their lack of care/experience. The property management company chose the contractors and as they were in short supply the useless/dodgy were only staff they could get. There are so many building regulations, yet they not adhered to.

Whats wrong with an arse blaster! I'm thinking of having a colonic irrigation attachment fitted to mine!
