I know its not the hardest visa to get and she's had one before but ''brilliant'' in regards to the speed and efficiently it was done.

(Thursday) - received NEW Thai passport.

day 1 - (friday) - Handed in UK visa application 13:00. (received a text later in the afternoon to say it was sent to the embassy)

day 7 - (thursday) - Text to say it will be in Pattaya the next day.

day 8 - (friday) - Call to give directions to deliver visa/passport to the house in Pattaya.....Done!!

I have a couple of questions:

Getting an SMS does not mean the visa is issued. How do you know it is issued ?

Who did you call to get the passport delivered to the house ? We have tried to do this, but they will not do it for us.

From Courier Service

Applicants can choose to have the decision on their visa application, documents and passport couriered to their home or business address. Applicants requesting courier service should speak to VFS staff when they submit their visa application.

They didn't use to do this, must be something new. No idea how long they've been doing it, though; I've not checked on this for sometime.

Excellent, 7x7. This is fairly new, I think, but I'm probably wrong !

I had my visa delivered to my now wifes place where she lived , it did not cost that much , the Courier even rang to say they would be delivering in the next hour, mainly because the nominated person has to sign for the Envelope. But you do not know if you have been successfully until you open the letter.

We get all our applications delivered to our office.

When they call or text they DON'T tell you whether the visa has been issued / approved ...only as per my message i.e. text stating the passport has been delivered to the embassy for approval & text 2 to say it will be in Pattaya the next day.

The phone call as per Tongkorn's reply was made from the courier to say he would be in the area within the hour. A good thing just incase your out.

This service (texting and courier) is asked when you hand in your application and only costs a few baht extra and well worth it.

Dont see why they won't do it for everyone.

The VAC wont tell you the result of the application because they cant; they don't know.

The UKBA, rightly in my opinion, consider the result of a visa application to be confidential between them and the applicant. For this reason the SMS message wont give the result and passports are returned to the VAC in sealed envelopes.

As can be seen from the link above, they do offer the courier service to everyone who asks (and pays) for it. At least for individuals, maybe their service to agents such as VP and TVE is different.
