Hi all

I hope to go to Thailand later this year but I have am criminal history (drugs).

I'm from Australia and staying for less than 30 days ie, getting a tourist visa on arrival. From what I've been told when filling out your visa card on the plane, they don't ask about ur criminal history. Can anyone confirm this?

Oh forgot to say before. Don't try it here as they are very strict about that sort of thing and the prisons here are not very nice. Stick to the Chang and Sang Som :D

Forget about it, put all your worries behind you. You will be just another getting their passport stamped upon entry. Be safe and enjoy your trip.

I suppose it's possible the Australian authorities might inform them at some point after clearing passport control in Australia. Or they might wait until you come back to give you the treatment. I'm sure there are loads of people there with far more serious criminal histories who are never troubled.

You will have no problems entering Thailand or any other asian country for that matter. However, there is a possibility on returning to Australia you will get the once over.

If Thailand rejected farangs with police records Pattaya and Phuket would be almost empty and so would the parliament.

As mentioned above, be very careful with drugs here. The penalties are serious and the jails are horrible. Plus, at times, the police are part of the sting. You buy, they show up immediately...bad stuff. If a local knows you are doing drugs and they get mad at you...or need some money...they can turn you in. Be very, very, very careful. If offered in a bar, turn it down....

I don't think you will have any issues while traveling. Moreover when you fill the form that they give you on the plane before landing, it doesn't ask anything related to crime.

So enjoy!
