February 6, 201115 yr These days I can get almost anything I really love apart from suet. The closest I get is a dumpling mix in Villa (which is supreme) Has anyone seen it anywhere as I'm dying for a Jam Roly Poly and custard.
February 6, 201115 yr Anywhere? These guys in Udon Thani have it -- #261 on their Price List: http://www.chernchim.com/imported-goods.html
February 10, 201115 yr That is some place. Cheers for that. Its a shame they do not have a branch in Chiang Mai as the prices seem to be a lot cheaper than Ringping and other outlets. I like Ambrosia tinned rice pudding and steak/kidney pudding. My friend did bring me a couple of packs of Atora suet from the UK recently
February 15, 201115 yr As far as I know all beef cattle come with two lumps of beef suet, one around each kidney. They did when I was a butcher's boy 40+ years ago anyway and I dont suppose it has changed much since then (GE permitting). Surely any local beef butcher in a Thai market would be able to separate the suet from the kidney and sell it to you for a reasonable price? I would expect this to be much cheaper than buying imported packet suet, and probably nicer.
October 1, 201114 yr Author They have Atora suet in Villa now at 95B a pop!!!! Jam Roly Poly for me tomorrow...if the missus is speaking to me that is....
