I am not sure if there are less tourists here in the ( high season ) or if business are cllosing earlier so there is no where for tourists to go. Last night i went through chaweng about 1130 pm and nearly everything was shut.

All the places that i did see open were full.

i just not understand.

if there are less customers u don't have to close early just let a few staf go early and if it picks up then they can all come back.

there is an internet shop in lamui that is open 24 hours which is great because people like to speak to other people across the worl and they don't have to worry about the time difference.

The answer is there are too many bars. Classic case of oversupply. There are the usual busy bars in Chaweng. Then there are the swarms of cheap grubby little bars that offer nothing new to entice customers.

Then again, maybe there are fewer tourists going to Chaweng because they are put off by the stench of sewage or the agressive ill manered motorbike taxi's.

My brother decided to cancel his holidays on Samui and Thailand because of the attitude of motorbike taxi's in Chaweng.

Bangrak is probably the quietest I have seen it in 4 years, yet it has;nt stopped 4 bars opening over the last 3 months

funny enough one new bar that has been open maybee 8 weeks is now up for sale,

the owner said when opening it that his would be the busiest bar around as everyone else had not a clue what they where doing,

ohh and guess what? its for sale at more than it stands him at because "its a bar now"

Hahaha the wonderful Samui logic, almost on a par with Liverpudlian logic.

A number of Samui businesses have closed as it is Chinese New Year (Gong Xi Fah Choi to you all)

I have noticed that quite a few of my local suppliers have closed up shop for a few days, I would expect them to be starting back this week :jap:

Those of us with a vested interest wpuld like to see pavement all the way along with streetlighting and some form of traffic calming measure imposed.

Oh and the total lack of late night taxis doesn't help matters either. Songtheuw services are also sporadic at night at best.....:(

The secret of any successful bar is customers...and if its difficult for them to get there or home then what do we expect?

Yes I'm talking about tourists....how many of them are there using Bangrak's bars? Not enough I know that much!
