Well since gasohol takes more energy to make than regular petrol I'm not sure why this is so high on anyone's list. Engine/ppower size is already tax limited but there might be something in mandating minimum mileage vehicles and an escalating luxury tax on everything else and hike the escalation for each year the gas hogs are on the road. It would be really nice if they would replace all the wheezing buses and 2-stroke motorbikes. If they're not going to pay for the subway system then how about street cars/trams? It could be cone with a cable pull system and eliminate the &*^% overhead wires. Has the advantage of being able to be done throughout Thailand.

What is the real reason for closing petrol stations early?

Is it about control and restricting movement, does anyone know the real reasons for this ridiculous law?
