What is the cost of a visa to Shenzhen?

Do I need to go to the Chinese Embassy to get it? Obtainable online?

I have heard it takes longer for an American to issued a visa. Any truth to this?

Does my Thai wife need an advance visa, or will it be issued on arrival for her?

I read in the past that there are special visa on arrivals that you can buy for short trips to Shenzhen, so long as you don't travel to other places outside of the area.

However I believe these might only be issued for people traveling from Hong Kong and the last time I checked was a couple of years ago and the information was sketchy at best.

You have to apply at the Chinese Embassy/Consulate, usually 3-4 days. Get applications online, just Google it.

Around 1200baht for most nationalities, 4000+baht for Americans.Thai's need visa's also before going.

One would think Shenzhen would make it easier. Don't they want visitors to come and spend their money?
