Yearly Vaccination

Featured Replies

Dog vaccination? Just read an article on internet claiming that yearly vaccination for dog is absolutely unnecessary, they build immunity same as people. and yearly vaccination would do more harm than good. Vets only do it for the money? What do you think or any comments about this?

Don't know the real answer to this but I would not take recommendations directly from a developed country and apply to Thailand. Climate and things like how many rats that run around are factors that should be considered I think.

I am a close follower of Cesar Millan, The Dog Whisperer. He has the same recommendations. He says they build the immunity after their first vaccinations, however he also goes on to say that every 3 years is all that is required.

We are in a catch 22, we moved from the UK with my husbands job and took our pets with us to Bahrain, from there re was relocated to Thailand. Without yearly vaccinations and keeping up with rabies shots and blood tests we would not be able to travel.

Relatively speaking (compared to UK) it costs peanuts to vaccinate your dogs here so why take the risk................................

It is nothing to do with money, but some vets claim that it harms the dog to give him vaccination every year,

Can the OP be more specific please? ALL vaccinations or just some? I think the annual booster vaccinates against 5 diseases, I am not sure what exactly.

I'd rather not vaccinate for minor diseases. But for diseases like rabies or distemper, perhaps in a developing country with diseased soi dogs running amok, I might not take the risk of not vaccinating.
