male
I have an ED visa which is expiring next week. I can just go to some neighbor country(Malaysia?), get a tourist visa there and then do border runs every 3 months, right? Andrew.
lopburi3
Maybe. But some consulates may not issue continuous tourist visas.

thaiphoon
Tourist visas are issued for the purpose of tourism. They are not intended to be a 'long term stay' solution. Any visa is issued at the sole discretion of the embassy/consular official. If the official has reason to believe you are not a genuine tourist, a tourist visa application may be refused. Many embassies/consulates display notices to that effect. There may be other options open to you for longer term stay if married to Thai/have Thai child/over 50 if you do not want to continue to study or work.
