regfrancis
Had a fantastic day on Koh larn island but noticed the long boats using old motors spewing black polution into the clear air (people go for the clean water and air). Then had a day in China town and a lot of Tuk tuks spewed just as much black smoke. Come on guys thats an extreme example of air pollution. Bad enough the fools that still insist on driving private cars...... but pouring black smoke into every ones lungs??? ...thats so ''yesterday''

mcgriffith
Don't disagree with the OP's observations about pollution being a problem in Thailand (as it is in most of the developing world). However, it is not Chiang Mai specific- moved to General. Thanks for your understanding.
Panhandler007
BKK would be FAR more livable if something were done about the level of air pollution. Crowds, traffic, heat and humidity are are all things I could live with, but not air pollution...
morrobay
The air in Bangkok is better than the air in Pattaya unless your right on the water with an onshore wind. . All the cigarette smokers in Pattaya make for more polluted air. Alot more Thai girls smoke now. As well as ridiculous percent of the foreigners smoking. Ditto many Chinese cities - Bangkok isn't extreme pollution. If you ranked cities worldwide, maybe half
