Tv Members In And Around Ubon

Featured Replies

Do that one as well! Very convenient for me too.

I think the original idea was for new members around Ubon, so we should stick with that as the first priority. Willing to go with the flow though.

I thought it might be easier to attract people if the event is in Ubon city??

However if the attendants are willing to venture out of town for an over-nighter in the war zone, I will be more than happy to talk to the strange owner.... :whistling:

Personally, I can't see the point of a bunch of geezers huddled around a table chewing the fat about life in Thailand with the possibility of being told to F*** O** by the bar owner, when one can be enjoying a full-on, family orientated bash elsewhere.

Do bar owners often talk like that in Ubon?

Yep; well, one at least, but despite his brash exterior he has actually got a heart of gold ... and I love the geezer!!

This is my first post and most likely my last. I have lived in Thailand for 6 years and have never joined Thai visa until now because, most of the people (there are people in the forums I consider helpful and polite) are dicks. I see the absolute tripe they write and off the cuff remarks and mostly they think they are piss ass funny. But in reality they are nothing but lonely tossers who need to get a ife.

The guy troher who wrote about his bad experience at Spago is such a fool. Yes he is entitled to his opinion but why lie about what happened.

I spoke to the owner and funnily he remembers the guy (not long after Franco had opened the business) and went through the details of what actually happened.

Now it is Franco's word against troehr. I know that if this guy had said to Franco, "I will never come back" to his face, Franco would have replied with some kind words.

Troehr, don't stretch the truth to make it a story. Write what happened, what really happened, what you said and not the additional stuff to pad a weak story.

I have eaten at Spago a few times, excellent food and Franco has always had a chat.

If anyone is reading this, don't let this person stop you from trying Spago, judge for yourself.

And the guy who would not be served at 1.50pm, this too is a fudged story as Spago closes at 2.30pm.

Hmmm... maybe I have to consider opening a new topic about having a gathering in Ubon, since this seems to have been hijacked by people who are either for or against a specific restaurant.

It's probably good for the specific restaurant though, if all publicity is considered good publicity. ;)

Maybe you could organise your night out at the local Muay Thai camp, and invite all the pro and anti Spago brigade to a pasta punch-up? At least it will stop them cluttering up your thread.

Elwood

A pasta punch up? Haha, good one elwood!

It could be followed with a spaghetti smashing and some pizza pulverisation!

Can I be the umpire?

I must admit, this is why I didn't put my name down for a meet up. There are just enough people in Ubon with extra large chips on their shoulders that could easily make a gathering very uncomfortable. I prefer to meet with people in small groups organised amongst ourselves. Please let it be known that none of the people that have posted on this thread as far as I am aware are the people with the extra chips that I was talking about.

Anyway....please carry on.....

all publicity is considered good publicity. ;)

and ain't that the truth!

If Franco is even reading this I am sure he would be having a small chuckle to himself. He has a good shop with great product and he will continue to do well no matter what people say on here whether it is the truth or not.

Hello,

I'll be returning to work shortly. Be back in November.

Thank ya though.

Call me a spoil sport but l wonder if meeting forum guys will affect how one replies to people you have had a beer with in the future. Especially someone like me who gets involved quite a bit with topics.

I am not a yes man and reply with honest thoughts. I know farangs now that ask my Tv name  but l won't reveal cos l think it will change things. :D

But, for the casual Tv browser l think it a good idea to meet and make new friends.

Apologies for the late reply, Bergen.

Elwood
