SET FELL ON FRIDAY BY 0.32%

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) closed yesterday (September 9th), at 712.78, -2.30 from Thursday, or -0.32%, with a total trading value of 22,876.08 million baht.

The SET 100 Index closed at 1,098.79, decreasing by 4.95 points.

The SET 50 Index ended at 505.52, decreasing by 2.27 points.

The MAI Index closed at 173.03 (-0.42), with a total trading value of 82.19 million baht.

The top 5 most active shares were

1. PICNIC CORPORATION Plc. (PICNI), which closed at 2.60 baht, a significant increase of 40 satang or 18.18%

2. EASTERN WIRE Plc. (EWC), which closed at 19.80 baht, a continuous increase from yesterday by 2.20 baht or 12.50%

3. THAI OIL Plc. (TOP), which closed at 71.50 baht, an increase of 1 baht or 1.42%

4. THAI PETROCHEMICAL INDUSTRY Plc. (TPI), which closed at 14.90 baht, a rise of 50 satang or 3.47%

5. EASTERN WIRE Plc. (EWC-W1), which closed at 13.20 baht, a continual increase from yesterday by 70 satang or 5.60%

Foreign investors and local financial institutions ended with a net buying position worth 1,021.591 million baht, whereas individual investors were selling their stocks off.

Individual investors bought 15,695.27 million baht (68.61%) and sold 16,716.86 million baht (73.08%), representing a net selling position of 1,021.593 million baht.

Foreign investors bought 4,984.455 million baht (21.79%) and sold 4,317.772 million baht (18.87%), representing a net purchasing position of 666.683 million baht.

Local institutions bought 2,196.361 million baht (9.60%) and sold 1,841.453 million baht (8.05%), representing a net buying position of 354.908 million baht.

Thanks for the update. I have yet to get my head around the Thai stock market so besides what my emerging market index fund holds, I have no direct exposure. With all the dooms day preditions in the press and from most I speak with these days I am a bit hesitant to step in - but will do it with a bit of play money.

I need a good Thai broker with online capacity - settrade.com should be ok I hear but seems all in Thai only. Any suggestions?
