I have been kicking around Bangkok for over a year now and in that time I have yet to find any long grained rice. Not sure how this variety may be best known among forum members but in UK it is generally described as american or patna rice. It's more robust than Thai rice, less 'scented' and much more suited to the the one pot cooking I turn to when comfort is sought.Getting truly desperate now and would be eternally grateful if someone could help to locate this holy grail.

I think I have seen long grain rice in foodland. When in doubt that seems to be the place to try for all things western. Alternatively, you could search around for one of those old-fashioned shops that sells all different kinds of rice in the big burlap bags. They might have it.

Thank you for the tips.I tried Foodland before but drew a blank then, perhaps another foray will reward.Otherwise, burlap bags it is!
