Hi I used to live in a quite a jungle area and had a few dogs and cats etc..

I got a few bites from ticks. typically the bite itched and lasted a long time but stayed reasonably small. Then I got one near my eye and I had such a severe allergic reaction I had to be hospitalized.

Ok so now is over 2 months since that incident. But lately I started feeling really worn down as I am working a lot and probably not sleeping as much as I should. My diet is ok I don't eat badly but could probably do with a vitamin supplement. I eat fish and lots of fruit/veg and nuts.

But all of a sudden they have started to itch again like crazy and ..the one on my eye is now a bump again and another one on my leg which was nearly gone is back to being like it was a few months ago.

HOw compromised is my immune and what is going on?

Hi Mister man,

Its' a bit odd that you were ok before but now you're not?. Different bite perhaps or not a tick at all. ie spider - the small black and white variety. Possibly Sheryl or others will comment, but maybe Lyme disease ?. Sounds like you should go to a specialist clinic / hospital as your reaction to the bite is not improving. Good luck with it.

1. Did you remove these tciks yourself, abd if so, is it possible the heads are still embedded under your skin? (Would account for the local reaction)

2. There are a large number of diseases spread by ticks in Thailand, both rickettsial and bacterial. . You need to see a specialist in infectious diseases.

One was very carefully removed by the eye doctor and her special magnifying machine.. The other one by me of course in complete horror. At the time she did call the disease specialist in Bangkok.

Ok Where would I even find a COMPETENT person such as this?

rickettsial is rocky mountain fever?

Rickettsia are a type of pathogen, sort of in-between bacteria and viruses. There are many types of them and many diseases caused by them. The Spotted fever group of diseases is one, so is typhus/scrub typhus and many others.

There are also bacterial diseases spread by ticks.

A large government hospital (provincial or regional) would be the most likely place to find this expertise.
