RANONG PEOPLE ARE BEING URGED TO BE ON ALERT FOR POSSIBLE LANDSLIDES IN SOME AREAS

People in Ranong Province are being urged to be watchful for possible landslides in some risky areas, due to the recent torrential rainfall.

Ranong Provincial Deputy Narid Piyapleud (นริศ ปิยพฤทธิ์) revealed that the Disaster Prevention for Civilian Department’s Secretary General has issued a statement warning Ranong people to be on alert for the impact of changing weather conditions. People are especially being asked to be cautious from the 9th to the 13th of September, when the strong force of the south-western monsoon over the Andaman Sea is expected to cause heavy rainfall in many areas. This can possibly lead to sudden flooding, torrential flash floods and landslides in many risks areas. In addition, the current conditions in the Andaman Sea are getting worse, with wave heights measuring around 2-3 meters.

Therefore, people in the areas are being urged to be watchful for the impacts and dangers of this natural occurrence, particularly during the next couple of days. Fishery vessels must also be particularly careful when sailing out to sea, while small boats should remain onshore.
