Could anyone help me on this, need to know if the Thai embassy in Manila issue 60 day tourist visas, anyone had any experience with them ?

three, fours years ago they changed the rules and demanded to see financial records proving income coming from outside Thailand - yes, just for a 60 day tourist visa and for people from Western countries.

have not gone since so assume that bank records for six months will be the minimum they will accept (I had atm receipts and a bundle of US dollars but no use).

I tried to get an Non-Imm B a few months back and came away with squat. Manila Thai embassy is run by a bunch of pedantic chimpanzees as far as I could surmise. Total waste of time! When I presented my papers they presented me with two [not one, mind you] lists of required documents and told me to piss off until i could satisfy both.

Manila, beautiful Manila! I lived and worked there for a number of years until I was transferred to Bangkok in 1973 and worked there also for some years.

I happened upon thaivisa.com while doing research for my plan to move my legal residence from Switzerland to Bangkok next year (over 50, Thai wife). This weekend having been rainy, I dug out my old passports, made a table of all Thai stamps in them and in the process found something I believe to be a rarity, a collector’s item, so to speak: an Immigrant Visa issued by the Thai embassy in Manila.

I have no idea what was on the application form, as all paper work was handled by my employer, an international organisation. On the same page of that passport, below the visa, is a handwritten note, probably written by the immigration officer upon my arrival at Bangkok airport. I don’t know what this note says (my wife is abroad at the moment). On another page is a stamp ordering me to report to Immigration Head Office within 24 hours of arrival,

stamped there on my arrival.

Apparently, the Thai embassy in Manila had made a gross mistake in giving me an Immigrant Visa. Later, after having been under consideration – I guess –

that Immigrant Visa was changed to a Non-Quota Immigrant Visa,

supplemented by a note in Thai. For all I know, I then even had a Residence Permit, I neither know nor remember because again everything was handled by my employer and I merely tagged along to the Immigration Bureau when that was asked of me.

Anyway, the morale of my story seems to be: nothing much has changed at the Thai embassy in Manila in the last 22 years.
