Manchester City defender Toure suspended after failing drug test

2011-03-04 02:21:47 GMT+7 (ICT)

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND (BNO NEWS) -- Manchester City defender Kolo Toure was suspended on Thursday after he failed a drug test, the club said in a statement.

Manchester City said the Football Association (FA) informed Toure that an A-sample provided by him had tested positive for a specified substance. "As result of this, he has been suspended from participating in all first team and non-first team matches pending the outcome of the legal process," the brief statement said.

It added: "There will be no further comment from the football club at this stage."

Dependent on what they find he will face a lengthy ban. Would like to find out what drug and how long he had been using it, maybe it has enhanced his stamina and therefore could have helped results, if so, will teams then appeal against those results in which he played in.

It could just be that he has taken a medicine for a cough or something that had a banned substance in it, this has happened before.
