sorry, asked this on another thread but no one seemed to know. i need to go extend my tourist visa for a month but someone told me the office in Nathorn only gives 15 days... can anyone verify one way or the other? thanks...

Do you have a 60 day tourist visa? If so, then I believe you can get another 30 days. If you entered the country on a 30 day visa then you only get 15 days. I don't see why Nathon would be any different from any other immigration office in the country unless they have changed the rules again.

Call em and find out. I believe it is 077-421-069.

If its a 30 day visa then you canm get maximum 10 days extension, if its a 60 days visa then you can get a maximum of 30 days extension. Same price for either, I think 1900 baht?

Bear in mind this is the maximum limit and I believe it is at the officers discretion to give whatever amount of days they give you, though at Bangkok I always have got 30 days extra no problem.

I suggest as SBK said you call them, and grab the name of the person ypou speak to on the phone as well so you can reference them if you get any problems whilst at the immi office.

thanks! i guess i was just too lazy to look them up, and i hate phones. but i will check myself :o...

They will give you 30 days no problem. You need 2 passport photos and yes, it's 1900 bht. Also, get there early there is always a line and they close for an hour at lunch time.

With a tourist visa, you will get a 30 day extension for 1900 baht. You can get another extension after this, around 10 to 15 days, for another 1900 baht.

If it is ten days but you hold a ticket showing that you are booked to leave in 11 or 12 days, they may at their discretion, extend it until that date.

i got a 30 day extension then a 20 day extension in nathon instead of the usual 14 days. it depends on the immigration officers mood and if you look smart and have everything in order. i have seen most people in there looking like they were dressed for a surf rather than attending a goverment office.

so that decent chap saved me 1900 baht because i didn't have to return to pay for a final week extension, he had already given me almost 3 weeks, i can only put it down to his discretion and my tiny bit of effort that i was given in effect a "free" week :o

Sorry, but there's never been a line there. It takes few minutes to get exyension.

Lunch time...? maybe. Been always there (if needed) before closing time.

Good luck.

Maybe there has not been a line when you have gone, but I'm 3 for 3 with the office full and folks waiting outside. One time arriving around 11:30 and having to come back after lunch because the closed before they got to me. Were you jokeing about no line? Maybe you know something I don't?

I went a few months ago (since I am coming from Koh P I always get there when they open) and there was already a line of about 6 people by 9am. Went last month and there were only about 3 people waiting. And that was at 9am too. I have been going to Samui immigration for the past 14 years and there are lines, not every time but most.

Luck of the draw, try not to go on a friday, seems busier.

Here's a stupid question: Where is the immigration office? I went to where it was shown on the map and could only see the electricity office. Did it move or is it hidden?

it is right there at the big street crossing, if you went to electricity office you have passed it already

Last year I saw two young guys get turned away, from Samui immigration office. They arrived bare chested, they were told in no uncertain terms to leave and come back when they were appropriately attired. I have also heard that the consulate in Kota Baru has a fairly strict dress code.

Its the first building on the left after you make the right hand turn coming from Nathon. It is right next door to the excise office.

I got 15 days on a 30 day visa waiver in Samui October 2004, reason for stay 'Go see Girlfriends hometown Phitsanulok' pretty generous.
