I'm sure this has been answered somewhere but too much information I don't need comes up in the search results (I'm sure someone can prove me wrong).

Right! I arrived with an automatic 30 day visa (I'm British) with my flight from Melbourne. Is it possible to extend an automatic visa at the Immigration Office? If that's not possible, what is generally cheaper, 2 border runs or applying for a Thai visa in one of the neighboring countries.

Thanks!

You can only extend at local immigration for 7 days. Ideally you would need to go to a neighboring Country and get a tourist Visa. Dependant on how long you want to stay will dictate what you need to buy.

If you want to stick with "visa on entry" you will get 15 days by land border and 30 days by Airport entry.

With a Visa exempt entry the most you would get at Immigration is 7 days.

You need to.

A. Leave the Country and return to at a land border crossing to get 15 days.

B. Return by airport to get 30days.

C. Visit a Thai Consulate in another country and apply for a Tourist Visa. 60 days for a single entry that can be extended for a further 30 days at Immigration.

How much is the 7 day extension? Maybe that and 1 border cross is enough.

No good! I could do a border run and get twice the days for less than that. OK. Cheers for the info!

1,900 baht is standard immigration fee for an extension of stay, whether it is issued for 7 days or 1 year (depending upon type of extension).
