A few weeks ago I had to leave my house just before midnight due to the booming bass that was shaking the windows from a house across the road. I'm sensitive to that. It was an outdoor party, as they always are, and the fact there was rain around didn't worry anyone about the electrical equipment getting wet and being lethal. A plus for me was after we drove away for awhile seeing parts of the road steaming, a result of the recent rain on the still hot road surface, Don't see that too often. Living in the countryside, I'm used to hearing loud concerts from the village a kilometre away, which might go on until 6am. I wonder what the people living nearby really think. I have a friend in New Zealand who had trouble with some Cambodians living next door, having loud parties in the early hours. He called the police, they came, music was turned down until they left then cranked up again. When the police were called again they confiscated the equipment. That would never happen in Thailand. Probably the police would be guests at the party. I do know they attend the loud village parties, maybe to be there if/when someone starts shooting.
