More Off-limits Zones Planned for PM's Security

Police plan to declare the areas the prime minister will visit off-limits in the near future after such a restriction has already been imposed in the vicinity of the prime minster's house in Soi Sukhumwit 31.

National police chief Police General Wichien Podposri said the move was not prompted by the speculated attempt on the life of Prime Minister AbhisitVejjajiva given police need to enforce the law to keep protesters from rallying around his house.

Wichien said public access to the areas where the prime minister will visit could be banned in the future as part of the security measure.

Wichien said the roads near Abhisit's residence remain open to traffic as usual, but he conceded commuters could face inconvenience as some parts of them are blocked by barricades and manned by police on duty protecting the premier.

PAD to rally at Indonesian Embassy Thursday

By The Nation

The People's Alliance for Democracy plans Thursday to submit a letter at the Indonesian Embassy opposing the meddling of Thai internal affairs, PAD spokesman Panthep Pourpongpan said on Wednesday.

"The PAD opposes any interferences by Indonesia or Asean," he said.

Panthep was reacting to a plan to involve Indonesia as the Asean chairman in the upcoming bilateral talks between Thailand and Cambodia in Jakarta.

He said he was concerned that the involvement of Indonesia could lead to the meddling of Thai affairs.

People's Alliance Opposes Indonesia's Role in Thai-Cambodian Row

The People's Alliance for Democracy plans to submit a letter to the Indonesian Embassy tomorrow to call on it not to interfere in the Thai-Cambodian conflict.

People's Alliance for Democracy spokesman Parnthep Puapongpan called on the government to show responsibility for the imprisonment of to Thai activists, Weera Somkwamkid and Ratree Pipattanapaiboon, in Cambodia despite being able to put pressure via economic and military means and hold negotiations for Cambodia to release them.

Instead, it has left them with two options of either appealing the conviction or seeking royal pardon.

Parnthep also noted that secretary of the Supreme Court for political post holders, Anurak Sa-ngaaree, had earlier talked about an agreement between Thailand and Cambodia, signed in 2009, for criminals convicted in either country to be able to serve their sentence in the other country.

Parnthep said the government should have informed Weera's family that this may be possible for his case.

The PAD spokesman also slammed the prime minister for using the Internal Security Act to close roads around his residence to traffic.

He said there have been continuing pressure on the group to disperse, with further attempts by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to tear down 48 toilets set up by the group next to the Education Ministry.

He also unveiled plans to go to the Indonesian Embassy tomorrow to call on the country not to intervene in the Thai-Cambodian conflict.
